| The Electorate of Stuart was named after explorer John McDouall Stuart (1815-1866) who pioneered a route from the south to the north of Australia. |
| One of the largest electorates approximately 339 966.0km², it is a country district extending from Port Augusta, its main population centre, to the Northern Territory and Queensland borders and east to the New South Wales border. The district includes pastoral lease and unincorporated Crown lands and the Simpson Desert in the far north and extends south to the River Murray area. |
| The Stuart Electorate includes the communities of Port Augusta, Kapunda, Morgan, Truro, Blanchetown and Cadell, and Mid North areas encompassing Burra, Spalding, Jamestown, Eudunda, Peterborough, and Orroroo. The electorate covers Leigh Creek and isolated communities of William Creek, Innamincka and Cockburn. |
| Stuart Electorate has over 35 Schools and Kindergartens, 11 Hospitals and 19 Police Stations and includes Port Augusta Prison & Cadell Training Centre located throughout the electorate. There are 9 different Local Government Councils within the electorate of Stuart. |
